Each year I enjoy going to the Decorator Show House in Birmingham. This is a benefit with the proceeds going to the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. There are only a few pictures available for the public to see- since the house tour is still going on!
So there will be more pictures to come!!!
For the first time, the Council included the paint colors used in each room in the program. All paint came from Benjamin Moore. *I will add the colors used from the program as I can!
I have taken this excerpt from an article in the Birmingham News about the history of the home that was decorated this year. The article was by Mia Watkins and also some of the descriptions provided including the Decorators involved. Pictures are from lwmcalister. “Gallery by lwmcalister”
History of the House
“Dr. William P. Bryant built the home in 1991 to accommodate his growing family. He took inspiration for the brick façade and the double-tiered portico from the Miles Brewton House in Charleston, S.C. Bryant also incorporated semi-circular wings on both sides of the house similar to those found on the Nathaniel Russell House, also located in Charleston. The attention to detail continues on the inside of the house from the moldings to the wood floors and paneling in the library. The main level of the house features 10-foot ceilings, a granite floor in the foyer and Roman Corinthian columns.”
Master Suite- The room was decorated by Mantooth Interiors. The 1200 sq ft master bedroom suite includes this spa-style bathroom decorated by Baker Lamps and Linen who originally decorated the house after it was built.
These draperies are all the way around the sunken tub! So luxurious! There was also a wonderful covered deck off this room done by Summer Classics- I have not found a picture of it so far. This sink!!! I need to find the name of it- It was in another bathroom- but there was no picture of the whole bathroom that I could find.
Stairwell- well one more look at this won’t help- watch out if you have a fear of height though! The Teen Retreat of the Bryant House was decorated by the Virginia College Southern Institute of Interior Design. This room included a popcorn machine and a mini frig! The frig was hidden in a built in cabinet and the popcorn machine sat on the shelf. It is three floors away from the kitchen- and a teen is likely to need a snack!!!Mint Julep Dreams Guest RoomPerry Umphrey, of Umphrey Interiors, designed the guest bedroom in the Bryant House, the 2013 Decorators’ Show House, to reflect the modern style of American boutique hotels. (from article by Tamika Moore)
Family room designed by Birmingham Wholesale Furniture- The draperies in here were especially beautiful- layers and layers- with a sheer fabric on the top with embroidered cut outs to reveal the fabric underneath! This picture doesn’t do them justice! I am anxious to see more photos from the Show House- more of the details will show then!!!
The Show House is about the unconventional when it comes to the details. Kathy’s Kreations used moss rectangles in the kitchen as part of place settings. Seashells and starfish help carry out the coastal living theme. The breakfast room of the Bryant House features distressed wood furniture and linen upholstery to reflect casual comfort. It was designed by E Homewood Interiors. Casual spaces for relaxed living. Love this look- the gray walls and the touches of green! Lovely and a chandelier “to die for”! Notice the botanicals over the chest! This was mirrored on the opposite wall as well. The home features intricate crown moldings and woodwork throughout as seen here in the library designed by Bill Aroosian of Bill Aroosian Designs. Beautiful woodwork and lovely window coverings too!Vignette in the library….
Outdoor deck off the living area- had to get some hounds tooth check for the Bama fans too. Comfortable looking sectional sofa and an outdoor rug with floor lamps and iron railing. Decorated by Black Jack Gardens
Hope you have enjoyed the tour!!! I am interested to know what your favorites were… Please leave a nice word or two! Thanks for coming on the tour! Enjoyed it!!! Cheri
