OUR SOUTHERN HERITAGE
TELLING A STORY
PAINTING A PICTURE
SHOWING US ART
PASSING ALONG TO THE NEXT GENERATION
All these things come to mind when I think of quilts. I have bundled up in them at my grandparents houses as a child- snuggled into a feather bed…no not a down comforter…a “feather bed” i.e. mattress made of ticking and filled with feathers! Not sure how close that comes to the Webster’s dictionary definition…but that’s my definition! SO, back to quilts and what do you think of when you here the word?
“Quilts”, probably conjures up a lot of memories for some of you too! No, quilts are not “just a Southern thing”- I am pretty sure they were all over the country. And especially the coldest parts of the country especially! Here, in the south, we are just as apt to throw a quilt over a table for a table cloth- or spread it on the ground for a picnic!
My friend, Fran, loves to stay up on all the happenings around here. She recently went to the quilt show in Columbiana- Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts.
She shared these pictures and I am sharing them too- these are just amazing!
So come on in, let’s see the quilts!
I am s-l-o-w on blogging-
One day I will get the hang of it….maybe?
I sure hope so- maybe a computer course is in the future for me-
And they say Word Press is easy…..
Easy for “them” to say!
So I will post more pictures for you- just try to take these in first. I have not tried to figure out the names of these so far! I may have to make a time to go see these for myself! I am so close by too!
Please leave a comment on which quilts you are loving! That just tickles me!!!
Thanks for coming by…. Cheri
