I recently made a custom garter for our friend’s daughter who got married last weekend. She and her husband are both Alabama graduates and she wanted a houndstooth garter to wear for her wedding. So I came up with one- made from 2 ribbons- One a houndstooth check- and the other a sheer ribbon to use for the ruffle (see pictures above). I also made another garter just with the houndstooth check (without a ruffle)- to throw at the reception- so the bride could keep this one for a keepsake!
I made a small rosette from the piece of sheer ribbon left over and attached over the seam that held the two ends together. I finished it with a small black beaded button in the center of the rosette- that I had in my sewing box.
